Autumn at Mount Royal

We went hiking in Mount Royal for the first time a few months ago. It's a beautiful park, with decent elevation, and many spots to view the city ... it's great because it is a 15-minute walk from our house. We went again last Saturday and really enjoyed the autumn colors. Also, this time we took a flashlight - and almost had to use it because we played too long. Here are a few photos.

A tree that was quite beautiful ...

The view is of the direction in which we live. We are northwest of Mount Royal.

This view is east of Mount Royal. McGill University (which you can see here) is in between Mount Royal and downtown. The University where K works is downtown - on the far right side of this photo.

We ended our day at Frite Alors!, where we had a giant cone of fries with two sauces: the Frite Alors! house sauce (mayo, harissa, and garlic) and another one with mayo and ginger. If you visit and eat wheat and meat, then we can take you there for some Canadian Poutines - french fies with cheese curds and gravy (yum yum).

I guess the name comes from "zut alor! "

Thanksgiving / Action de grâce

We are behind on blogging ... and, it is time to catch up.

October 13th was Thanksgiving here. K was in California for a conference. Our new friend Suzana invited me over for Thanksgiving dinner with her family. It was very nice.

C'mon, Move to Canada!

Found this on Slate today. Doesn't this move make us look pretty clever now?

New Dog Food

Last night, we picked up new dog food for Sam. It must be very good because, as soon as we brought it in, Little Bit started guarding it.

When Little Bit got tired, Toonces came in to relieve her.

And, then Toonces guarded it.

We suspect that this continued through the night. However, the hole in the bag, which we discovered this morning, indicates that they may have accomplished more than keeping Sam away from the food.

S's Super Power

I used it today...

Silk Long Underwear and No Canoe

Yesterday was October 4th - and this year it marks the earliest date in which I donned silk long underwear. We went to Parc de la Rivière des Mille-Iles (river of a thousand islands or something). The plan was to canoe around the islands - however, Sam wasn't allowed in the canoes. But we had a nice time anyway.
