The Secret Life of Sam Schmlloyd

Monsieur Schmlloyd has always had a life of his own. When we are out, he sometimes goes out on the town or has friends over. In Montreal, he has quite an exciting secret life. He has become close friends with a photographer, who is making him famous, and a makeup artist and stylist, who is getting him in shape.

While Idil's primary subjects are Odie and Billie, she has recently discovered Sam. And, boy is the public into him. One of my favorite lines from all of the attention he is getting is, "His face looks like velvet." Oh yes, our velvet-faced Sam. He smells like roses too!

Sam routinely goes jogging with Martine. I think she is of the opinion that Sam must get in shape before we can do anything with his appearance. Martine lives on the third floor of our building. Sam is often seen in the backyard looking longingly at the third floor.

Sam, on one of his runs with Martine.

Northwest Terrotories

We were out on a walk Wednesday night, when we saw it!

A Northwest Territories license plate. On a Subaru no less.

They are far from home. And, we think they need to register their vehicle ... it looks like the sticker is from 1994. Maybe you really do set your calendar back 16 years when you enter the Northwest Territories.

The Baby Wants to Sleep Outside!

Quebec puts out a very informative book, "From Tiny tot to Toddler" or "Mieux vivre avec notre enfant de la grossesse à deux ans ." It is very helpful and we consult it often. However, page 206 of the English version (see below) does finally prove that the Québécois are nuts. It informs us that our baby may want to sleep outside with a mosquito net when the temperatue hits 70 °F. We just need to make sure that the carriage is long enough for her to stretch out. We have always been impressed at how people just leave their baby carriages outside. Little did we know that there are babies in them!

To their credit, the last line does remind us that they must be buckled in and kept under a watchful eye. Will be sure to peek out the window every few hours to make sure the mosquito net hasn't blown away!

Second Hike

Today we took H on her second hike to Parc Summit, which is part of Mount Royal. Until recently, dogs were allowed off leash expect for a few weeks during bird migration. Now, dogs must be on leash 9AM - 6PM. Very unfortunate for Sam (see lower right hand corner of the photo).

Incidentally, this is the first photo of the three of us together!

Gold!

We were hoping H would not have to declare her loyalties so soon ... such a decision. With the last 17 days being been full of Canada propaganda ... With the Canadians taking more gold than anyone in the history of the winter Olympics ... With Canada beating the U.S. for the gold in both men's and women's hockey ... It seems her decision has been made. Oh Canada!
